Giving is a key component to my life. I believe and it has become evident to me that what you sow is what you reap. This goes both for the good and the bad. If I put out good, it is going to come back to me. The same is also true of the bad/negative. This happens at a level that most people don't think about.
I have set a goal to give away $1,000,000 to charity. We have been able to give away some substantial numbers, but we are still a long way off from the goal. We are looking to complete this by 1.1.11. That leaves us a little less than 4 years. I am looking to use some leverage to achieve this goal. That is where the readers come into play. We are going to work together to achieve these goals.
The focus is going to be on the nutrition and education of the poor in developing countries. To start 100% of all contributions will go straight to the source. We are going to cover all expenses for the time being. When we experience tremendous growth that may change. We are going to organize these efforts and make sure all funds are used properly. We are going to be looking for volunteers to join us on some outstanding efforts to improve the lives of people. I promise once you go with us, you will be much more grateful for everything that you have. You will also see the benefits this awesome place that we live called the United States of America affords us.
My inspiration for getting this going again and to make it a focus was this article on Guy Kawasaki's blog entitled: Ten (or so) Questions with Richard Stearns, President of World Vision. This is something that has been on my heart for over a year and seeing Richard Stearns discuss his Christian values as a drive for fulfilling this work inspired me. I could not let this pass me by. Christ is the most important relationship that I have in my life and serving him is at the top of my priority list. I also had some encouragement from one of my mentorship students to discuss this more openly so here we are.
I see business as the key to making change in the world. As an entrepreneur I can create wealth and use that wealth to make a change for the better. I can hire people to run schools, build buildings, etc. There is great leverage with money. As a single individual, I can only do what I am physically capable of doing. Without leverage that isn't very much. There is also tremendous leverage in many other areas of business that can be utilized to make change.
Another reason for sharing this is to start a conversation. That conversation is going to be tremendous leverage in the form of a mastermind group. We are going to be able to take our collective knowledge and experiences and apply them together to achieve the vision. 1+1+1=3 is no longer true. With the incredible power of a mastermind group 1+1+1=496 or more. The leverage that can be achieved is incredible.
Get ready to be a part of something incredible that combines capitalism and giving to create tremendous abundance in everyone that comes in contact with this awesome mission.
Okay. You've got my attention. Let's see where this can go. I too enjoyed the Richard Stearns article and am inspired by his vision for BIG impact over time. Cheers!
